Reading Comprehension Strategies
Reading strategies help you to understand the meaning of the text, not just be able to read the words.

So what is a strategy?
A strategy is a plan to help you to achieve something.
So a reading strategy helps you to achieve understanding of the text.
Another word for understanding is comprehension.

Good readers often use reading strategies without even realising.

The main aim of using reading strategies is to help you understand what you read, which makes reading much more fun!
